general sherman redwood

It takes a dozen people
hand to hand
to make a circle around me
Is this the best use
for these twelve people?

I recommend instead
of parking at the top
starting with the Giant
Forest Museum

My side of the story
is on display in a drawer
of gently accruing
paper files

It’s never been
my dream to be hugged

I don’t dream

Nights are lonely sure
but once the visitors are gone
existence
can be contemplated
